Following the golf events in Barcelona in 2004 and Tylösand in 2006, the Tournament Staff of 2007, Fredrik Larsson and Lars Sjöberg saw their involvement in founding an enhanced tournament as a service to golf, but demurred at calling it the "årets golfhelg", preferring the more modest The Chalmers Oldboys Invitational. 
The first Chalmers Oldboys Invitational was held in May 2007, and was won by Lars "Sjögurkan" Sjöberg. After the event several complaints were made towards Mr Sjögurka's handicap. After lively discussions at the AGM though it was decided that the tournament was won with great sportmanship and in accordance with COB rules and paragraphs.
History was made and since then golf enthusiasts come in large numbers to watch the event of the year with the promise to always see golf at the highest standards.
The winner of COB2009, Magnus Nygren hands over the Cup to the proud winner 2010, Anton Dunge who secured the Cup with 36 points.
